Explore the key foundations in mathematics necessary for college and career readiness
Use guided discovery to naturally connect new concepts to what they already know
Build conceptual understanding as well as fluency
Structured around the 5 Practices for Orchestrating Productive Mathematics Discussions (Smith & Stein, 2018), this course is the first step of a three-year high school sequence built upon the Comprehensive Mathematics Instruction Framework to meet the expectations of College and Career Ready Standards. Students will participate in low-threshold, high ceiling tasks that explore one-variable statistics; linear equations, inequalities and systems; two-variable statistics; functions; exponential functions; quadratic functions; and quadratic equations.
