Shayla’s deep love and admiration of mathematics led her to earn her undergraduate degree and a graduate certificate in pure Mathematics at Indiana University, as well as her master’s degree in Education and Educational Technology at The Johns Hopkins University. Sharing her excitement of mathematics with others, Shayla has designed, developed, and implemented high-quality online courses from kindergarten to the undergraduate level with the Art of Problem Solving, Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, and Indiana University in addition to running her own tutoring business and educational resource center for over a decade. Shayla regularly contributes to the educational community through her research, conference presentations, and publications as well as acting as a subject matter expert and course reviewer for Quality Matters. Shayla is the mother and homeschool teacher of five wonderful children and can often be found outside enjoying the bright New Mexico sun and soaking up the beauties of nature with her family.
